Smoky Texas Style Barbeque in Auburn

Hands down the best BBQ place in the area. Small family business ran by a man who cares about his work. It's a small hole in the wall with little to no curb appeal besides a large star sign above the door. The food was absolutely delicious and the servings are more than fair. He smokes and cooks his meat outside their front door in a smoker that fills the air with a wonderful smell. The pulled pork is my favorite dish with soft and a tender pork mouthful. It goes along with two sides. He brings your food to you and keeps each portion separate using plates that have their own compartments. We will continue coming here every time we are in the area. His food is great and so is his attitude. Customer service was great. The building is small and there are only a few tables, even a few outside. But it's a diamond in the rough right off of the freeway! Stop by often!

All this guy needs to do to make BBQ great again in Auburn is get better meat. Great BBQ starts with great cuts of meat.Hint: Costco is the answer to that.So get on your horse and go.

The 3 piece dinner sampler was tasty, and generous portions for the money ($20 or so). Sauces were all good, and the meat was soft and tasty (pulled pork, brisket and sausage - skip the sausage and try the chicken). Garlic mash was not that garlicky, if that's your thing. The coleslaw was home made at least, my personal measuring stick of any BBQ place. It was warm and limp by being put in the same container as the hot food... A no no. Ask for your meats and sauces in their own to go containers, or plates, because the mix of them makes for muddled, confused flavor.

Great BBQ food. The ribs / chicken / pulled pork sandwich were all excellent. As well as the potato salad and the BBQ baked beans. Will definitely be coming back here again.

This restaurant has a small dining area. You can eat at the restaurant or get take-out. I usually buy the Barbeque Chicken which is tasty. The sauces are gluten free but please check with the owner when ordering. I enjoy the potato salad and beans. The meal has always been tasty. Please try.

Best bbq in Auburn tri tip is excellent. All the sides are homade and awesome super affordable $10.00 and you can grab a tasty lunch that fills me up. The owner is really nice.

I was really expecting some great bbq ... well let's just say I can buy a Frozen BBQ meal from a grocery store and it would have been better , I am using that one to complain or write a bad review but I tell the truth I don't butter up my comments, the service was horrible as well.

This is a fairly small establishment. You order at the counter and then take a seat. The place sits about 20 plus a few seats outside. The staff was nice and the food was good but nothing to write home about. I ordered the 3 meat combo and it was too much food. If you don't want your meat smothered in sauce then ask for it on the side. There is only one BBQ sauce choice or ketchup. I'd eat here again.

Pretty decent BBQ. Ribs were well flavoured but the brisket and the tri-tip were pretty average. Guy running the place tries hard and service was good. Not a bad little pit stop

Really enjoyed the smokey flavor. We just had meat items, and they were good. Inside small, but they are set up for easy to-go orders. Plenty of parking, convenient location.

The food was very, very tasty. True Texas-style BBQ. The establishment is a little run down, but if you're into barbeque you don't come to these places for the atmosphere. The owner was a little impatient with us, and actually messed up our order as we were traveling through the area... The food was so good we decided to just eat it and be grateful for the delicious meal.

Amazing food and the only quality bbq I have yet to find in California. Portions are great for the price!

EXCELLENT FOR CATERING SMALL OR LARGE OCCASIONS! The owner of Smokey Pit BBQ always goes above & beyond to accommodate. They've got excellent BBQ here, you'd have trouble finding something on the menu to complain about & the prices are excellent for their quality of food. Highly recommended if you enjoy good, traditional BBQ.

We met with friends at this restaurant for a meeting. my friend recommended this place. Well, it was a winning. we were warmly welcomed by the staff and we had a fantastic feeling. The food was just great. We loved this restaurant a lot and we shall absolutely come back again. Highly recommended.

Great ribs. Dinner quantity is generous. Another nearby mainstream rib place is medium quality, high price while this place is high quality, medium price. Best ribs I've had in a couple years. Will be back, but now know I have to come very hungry.

Smothers all meat in sauce and hope's for the best.... I would give 4 stars for the customer service. Everything else was not that great, brisket was dry, hot links tasted average. Ribs should have been offered as a soup, way too much bbq sauce.

The owner makes great BBQ! Small place with big taste! Better than all the big chain restaurants around this area. Also not too expensive. Must try.

Some of the the best bbq in NorCal.

This is a one man show set in a strip mall. The meats (ribs/chicken/sausages) are wood smoked in the parking lot and are delicious. The beans, garlic mashed potatoes and coleslaw are very good. Great little place.

I've been coming here for many years and it never disappoints. You can watch the man smoke and prepare his meat outside in the parking lot, even in the dead heat of summer and it's still worth coming to. There's not a single bad thing on the menu, but the brisket and pulled pork are by far the best since he makes his own sauces as well!
